Dear member of a student corporation,
Quite soon, it is time for the festivities of the fraternity and sorority members of four nations, carrying in itself 50 years’ worth of traditions. In relation to this, a great book will be published, telling you, your organization, members of your academic family the story about the Baltic Nations’ Kommers.
The book “50 Years of Baltic Nations’ Kommerses” offers you something invaluable – once in a lifetime memories, pictures, history. The book relies on English, but contains original articles in German, Estonian, Latvian and Polish.
Do you know how this event was started? What are the special and remarkable things that have happened during the last 50 years? Holding the event in different countries has offered much memorable and the value of the BNKs nowadays cannot be underestimated. The book serves the purpose of raising interest in holding a kommers together in the younger generations of Estonian, Latvian, Polish and German student corporation members, to put down history, to give an overview of the student corporations based on the Baltic German traditions and to offer joyous reminiscing to participants. Because there is plenty to remember!

History of student corporations: Toomas Hiio’s “Student Life and Student Organizations in Tartu and Riga in the 19th Century”; Reet Bender’s “On the Baltic Kommers Traditions in the 19th Century Tartu in the Light of Memoirs”; the kommerses in Heidelberg and Ants Tooming’s “Church Services as an Inseparable Part of the BNKs “.
2. An overview of fraternities and sororities in Germany, Estonia, Latvia and Poland.
3. The first BNK in Germany, Estonia, Latvia and Poland, also the first Sororities’ evening.
4. Information about the 57 student corporations traditionally participating in the BNKs together with pictures.
5. The memories of the participants from previous BNKs.
6. Articles about various BNKs.

Üsna pea jõuab kätte nelja rahva korporantide pidupäev, mis kannab endas viiskümmend aastat traditsioone. Sellega seoses on ilmumas üks suurepärane kogumik, mis jutustab nii Sulle, Su organisatsioonile, akadeemilise perekonna liikmele Balti Rahvaste Kommersist.
Kogumik ”50 Years of Baltic Nations’ Kommerses” pakub midagi hindamatut – kordumatuid mälestusi, pildimaterjali, ajalugu. Inglise keele baasil raamatus on saksa, eesti, läti ja poola keelsed originaaltekstid.
Kas tead, kuidas sai üritus alguse? Mida erilist ja silmapaistvat on juhtunud 50. aasta jooksul? Korraldus erinevates riikides on pakkunud palju mäletamisväärset ja selle tähtsust tänapäeval ei saa alahinnata.
